WILTSHIRE COUNCIL OFFER A HOME LIBRARY SERVICE.  If you are unable to get to the library because of ill health or mobility issues Wiltshire Council’s home library service may be the perfect solution. OLDER PERSONS STANDARD WILTSHIRE CONCESSIONARY BUS PASS CONCESSIONS WILL NOT BE AUTOMATICALLY RENEWED

From 1 January 2019, not all bus passes will be renewed automatically.  If a bus pass has not been scanned on a bus prior to the renewal; this would indicate that the bus pass has not been used, within Wiltshire. Therefore, it will not be renewed at this stage. A note will be added to customer’s record to say the pass has not been renewed.  If you do not use your pass for an extended period, you remain eligible for a pass but may need to contact Wiltshire Council for your new pass to be issued.  If you have not received a renewed bus pass and your pass has expired please contact Wiltshire Council, 0300 456 0100.

Heat your home to at least 18 C (65 F) – you might prefer your main living room to be slightly warmer.
Keep your bedroom window closed in winter – breathing cold air can be bad for your health as it increases the risk of chest infections.
Wear several layers of light clothes – layers trap warm air better than one bulky layer.

FALLS AND BALANCE CLASSES

An initiative by Wiltshire Council in conjunction with Places Leisure and Active Health. Classes are specially designed to help people who have concerns regarding their balance, have had a fall or who are afraid they may fall. The class involves a variety of standing exercises supported by a chair which improve strength and balance and help participants to increase their confidence.

MELKSHAM  –  Monday, 12 – 12.45 pm class  Location: The Scout Hut, Waitrose car park opposite the Riverside Club, Melksham, SN12 6LP Cost: £2.60 per session

MELKSHAM  –  Thursday, 2 – 2.45 pm class Location: Spencer Sports & Social Club, Beanacre Road, Melksham, SN12 8AG Cost: £3.00 per session (includes tea/coffee/biscuits)
